Review of ‘The Housemaid’

When i saw the film was coming out, I knew that I needed to read the book beforehand and I am so glad I did. I always hear people say the book is so much better than the film and now I know what they mean. I have to say , I really enjoyed this book, I mean what a twist? The majority of the book I was getting so frustrated at Nina and how she was treating Millie. I even ranted to my friend about it who had just finished the book so she obviously knew the full story. When i found out that Nina was playing Andrew and Millie in order to escape her marriage, I did develop a new found admiration for her but also still disliked her at the same time because after all the went through she decided to put Millie through the same thing and she did not deserve that. I was relieved when Nina came to her senses and saved Millie. So many twists and turns. I would definitely recommend. If you do love this book I would recommend ‘the housemaids secret’ ‘the housemaid is watching’ ‘the housemaids wedding’ , I would recommend reading the housemaids wedding in between the other two. overall I did enjoy the film but was disappointing with how different it was to the book and how they missed certain bits out. Truthfully I would recommend the book but would not recommend the film and can’t wait to read more Freida McFadden books.

Amy.
